No wedding Saturday at the Blakes

It's awesome being at home on a Saturday.  We had a hot one last weekend so of course that calls for the bounce house to be blown up with water...Addie and Brody's favorite.  Chris decided to jump in with the kids and they had a blast.

Addie after ballet class...made us smile.

Hawaiian getaway...san ninos

Absolutely amazing!  Chris and I had the true JOY of getting away with no kids for 6 days.  Grammy and Papa graciously watched our kiddos for the week (with the help of the Boone Farm too) while we went to Kona, Hawaii.  I had a wedding on Saturday so the other 4 days we sat, slept, ate, slept, drank, slept, read...you get the idea.  It was AMAZING!  We loved being able to do whatever we wanted, not be constrained by time or naps, and sit for long meals with a bottle of wine.  Sigh, I think I already miss it.  Yes, we totally missed our kids but it was great being away.  We were ready to see them again and got a bit teary when they hugged up with pure joy.  I could get used to a once or twice a year "work" trip to Hawaii...just need to pray for more brides to call me. :)

Walking...sort of

Brody is getting closer and closer to walking.  He is super comfortable with just holding one of our fingers and cruising.  If we make him, he will stand by himself for a bit too.  I honestly think he can do it...but he won't.  I am learning not to compare the two kiddos and timelines.  I tell myself he will learn to walk eventually...he is just taking his sweet time.  I do have to say though, it is rather cute to see him cruise around.  He is so happy with the new found freedom and loves to chase Addie around the downstairs.

Easter 2012

We had the joy of celebrating Easter this year with some sweet friends. We headed to church then ended up with a BBQ/bounce house/Easter egg hunt at our place afterwards. Luckily there are plenty of kids so the time was fun. We are blessed with our friends and neighbors.
Brody REFUSED to take a picture with Addie...frustrating.
Monkey will save him.

More crying with trying for a group shot. This is SUCH a Brody face.
Our beautiful little girl. She is just so much fun right now.

Third and final attempt for a picture of them together...no go. Sigh.

April happenings

I am still in awe that April is almost over...where did this month go?! Here are a few highlights:
Brody and food...we seriously feel like we feed him 24/7.
Addie's new favorite thing is chocolate milk thru the crazy straw.
It's true...Mel and I did our first 5K run. There are many stories around this whole thing but all in all it was awesome! We are hoping to kick it up a notch and attempt a 10K. Sigh, running is not my favorite thing (sorry Tara!) but we are trying. I realized that I live in such a beautiful area and it's kind of fun running farther than 1-2 miles.
After the race...mission completed.
Ha! We watched the Hamon kids the other night and ran into a slight problem. Soren and Brody have the same monkey they sleep with and Brody was being a bully. Although Brody already had his in his hand, he kept stealing Soren's. Naturally Soren would cry. When we took Brody away, he literally threw a fit because he couldn't have Soren's too. We eventually had to take Brody upstairs to just remove the temptation altogether.
Easter cookies (thanks Grammy) decorating with the Van Patten beauties. I think they all just ate candy instead of really decorating.
TRACTORS!! Okay, so Brody is OBSESSED with any type of truck, tractor, bus, FIRE TRUCK, or big object that moves. He will make his truck sound whenever he seems them and gets fired up. It's very humorous.
Brody and Addie both came down with RSV. Yes, this is Brody's second time getting this stink in' virus. Both kids were a bit miserable for a week with high fevers. Luckily for me, I got some pretty good cuddles from the two. Praise the Lord we are healthy...for now.

Frogs

The Hamons have the best house for adventures...yet another (of many reasons) we love them. This one particular day we ventured down to the pond at the edge of their property to look for frogs. I just have to say that Addie is fearless with animals and creatures. She held, chase, KISSED and loved on this poor little frog. It was adorable...in a gross way.

Funnies in the Blakes

Although we strive to not let the kids watch too much tv, they both LOVE it! Here is a typical position found at our house while I cook dinner...Brody will cruise around the coffee table while watching and Addie makes the couch her palace.
Spider-girl...Need I say more.
Mr. Brody in the tub. He is OBSESSED with the bath and literally goes crazy when he hears the water turn on. We joke that he is his happiest in water.
Addie in the tub...she is all about water right now and all about goggles. Yes, we gave her goggles for baths. Is that weird? ;)

Park time.
Brody at the park. It was much colder than I thought it would be and I didn't have a jacket for him. BUT I did find one of Addie's jackets in the car so Brody got to rock some girl clothing. Poor thing.
